The Son of God became human for our salvation: to restore the fallen image, reconcile humanity to God, conquer sin and death through His Cross and Resurrection, and give us life in communion with Him.
What the Church teaches
Humanity could not heal its separation from God by moral effort alone. In love, the eternal Word took our nature without sin, lived perfect obedience, offered Himself on the Cross, entered death, and rose incorruptible. Salvation is God’s gracious work that restores and transforms us as we are united to Christ in faith, baptism, the Eucharist, repentance, and a life of love.
Live it this week
During the Nativity and Resurrection seasons, read the appointed Gospel passages and connect each feast to the whole saving work of Christ. Thank Him specifically for becoming human, dying, and rising for you, then answer that gift through one act of reconciliation or mercy.
When personal guidance matters
Salvation is not permission to remain unchanged, and it is not a wage earned by religious performance. We neither presume on grace nor despair of mercy; we receive God’s gift and cooperate with it through a life of repentance.
